Glad to have you back. Currently, I have been crushing over African prints and have fallen in love with the culture that is portrayed by our local designs. This has led me to try and showcase as many designs that I will possibly be able to.

First off, TIKO AFRIKA. Tiko is a brand that was developed by two budding entrepreneurs who both went to the same high school as I did. I interviewed them and this is what came about:

  1. Tell us a little about Tiko Afrika and the dream behind it.

Our dream for Tiko from the very beginning was to create a brand that one, was to create a brand that incorporated modern day fabrics with contemporary African designs with an aim of promoting African fashion as this is something that is a part of us because we have been shaped by our environment which is Africa and specifically Kenya.  Additionally, our dream was to be able to compete on the world stage and demystify the thought that products produced in Africa are substandard therefore we work super hard to improve and create products that exhibit top notch quality.

  1. What is the Uniqueness of Tiko in comparison to other African brands?

Our uniqueness is in the difference we want to create. This difference being we want to make an impact in our society. For instance, we source all our materials from within Africa and hence we help in promoting other small businesses.

  1. What lies in the future for Tiko?

The future seems to be bright as there is endless opportunity for growth for the brand. We are looking to increase our presence online and in physical stores. Sooner rather than later, we shall launch our website and this will help in giving our consumers easier access to our products without much hustle.

  1. Do you only deal in bags? If yes, should we expect Tiko to expand its range of products in the future?

At the moment we only deal in bags, because we do not want to bite off more than we can chew and end up producing substandard products hence we are focusing on this sector first. However, we are open to expansion into other areas of fashion.

There you have it folks, till next time, cheers!
